Appearance, themes & menus
The cosmetic and layout settings. Nothing here can break anything, so experiment freely.
Appearance
Sidebar → Settings → Appearance
Colours and visual style for the panel. Separate from your logo and platform name, which live in platform settings.
Match your brand colour once
Set it here and it carries through the panel. Schools on their own domains still differ — their branding wins on their own address.
Dashboard themes
Schools can be given different dashboard designs. Set the platform default, and each school can be moved to another.
There is also a "Try Designs" option in the top bar that previews a theme for your current session only — nothing is saved, so you can look before committing a school to it.
Dashboard actions come from the role menu
A dashboard's shortcuts are built from what that role can actually reach. If an action is missing from a dashboard, the cause is the role's permissions or menu, not the theme.
Menu Builder
Sidebar → Settings → Menu Builder
Controls what appears in the sidebar for each role — so a teacher's menu can differ from an accountant's.
Hiding a menu is not a permission
Removing an item from a menu tidies the screen. It does not stop someone reaching the page another way.
If a role must not access something, remove the permission, not just the menu entry. See who does what.
Most installations never need this. Reach for it when a role is cluttered with modules that school does not use — though switching the module off for that school is usually the better answer.
Ready templates
Sidebar → Templates
A library of ready-made document templates — certificates, ID cards and similar — organised by category and searchable, that schools can use instead of designing from scratch.
Stock templates shorten the first week
A school that can print a leaving certificate on day one feels the system is finished. One that must design one first feels it is a kit.
Adding a few good templates per category is high-value, low-effort work.
Where each branding setting lives
Easy to lose track of, so:
| To change | Go to |
|---|---|
| Platform name, logo, favicon | Platform settings |
| Panel colours | Settings → Appearance |
| Word for Class / Section / Subject | Academic wording |
| A school's own logo and name | That school's own settings |
| The login screen a school sees | Custom domains & white-labeling |
| App name and icon | Building the apps |
